Graphic and Digital Design

I really enjoy design in all of its forms. The right hemisphere of my brain needs quenching just as much as my left. Outside of websites and blogs, I design logos, advertisements, banners, and business cards. I consider myself a pragmatic designer in that I’m more interested in communication through design than in abstract creativity. I concentrate on typography, alignment, and simple colors to make a point.

These cards were created to promote a word-of-mouth restaurant. In as few words as possible, we wanted to communicate enough to generate interest and leave a few questions unanswered. The URL would lead to a site with the current menu and more information. This design is intended for letterpress printing.

This logo was designed to replace an existing logo for a financial health report firm. The logo would appear on spreadsheets, business cards, and the upcoming website. We wanted to keep a simple, classy font but communicate what it is that the Business Ferret does, “find the money.”

This logo is used on a real-time Twitter search engine. The challenge was to create a logo that invoked the Twitter logo without being an exact copy.

This is the cover of Greg McBride’s book, Finding Your Integrity. I designed the cover as well as the pages within and wanted to concentrate almost exclusively on the typography. The book is 100 pages of ideas and things to think about, each one designed individually.

This was my first design for letterpress printing. I wanted the anachronism of a vintage looking card representing someone working with web technology. The card is simple and elegant and has generated a bit of attention. You can read more about this card here.

This logo was designed for documents and emails surrounding a user workshop for a university CRM company. The symbol in the background is their identifier and the font, Frutiger, were both requirements for this project.

This print ad was for a surf artist who placed an ad in a major surf and art magazine targeted at women. She wanted to drive traffic to her website with a special deal for the magazine audience.

This print ad was created for a black and white conference handout.

My logo seems to change every quarter. Here’s the most recent iteration.
